Relentless Neighbor of The Month

Century 21 Atwood shares the #RELENTLESS story of Dani Murdoff, Herman, MN.

“KIND IS COOL, in all the little ways and big ways too!”

There are people in need in every community, and it can be hard for them to ask for help. So hard in fact that it could be your neighbor, your friend, your child’s schoolmate, and you may not even know they are going through a tough time. Life can throw curveballs at us all. Sometimes little curve balls, sometimes big ones. Sometimes temporary curveballs, and sometimes long-term. We are lucky if we have a support system to get us through those times, but when we don’t, it becomes more stressful, overwhelming, and devastating. We are thankful to spotlight people in our community like Dani! Whether it is the United Way Backpack Program, Habitat for Humanity, Adopt a Highway or the Fergus Falls Mowing club, she gives back to so many people in the community. “Giving back is so awesome and it feels so good”, says Dani.

When we have our health, when we have job security, when we have no curveballs, it is easy to take for granted the day-to-day things that need to get done just to maintain. “Giving back is empowering for the receivers, and the givers too!” When our community members are struggling, support in these every day ways provides such a sense of peace of mind, a sense of security. It goes a long way to helping them make it through their difficulties. This can be anything from giving groceries or other supplies to mowing their lawn while they are battling an illness or find themselves permanently unable to take care of everyday things. Dani finds time to make helping important.

Dani has personal experience with curveballs. Seven years ago, her boyfriend had an accident and found himself in a wheelchair. The daily duties that were once easy to conquer together became a big challenge. Dani realized that she is probably not the only person to experience an event that created a need, and so helping others became a personal understanding and passion.

“You have to just find what is rewarding to you and then offer help through your time. Whatever drives you, find ways to use that to change someone else’s world, because it will!” Dani is an Optician at InVision, where her company is very committed to encouraging its employees to take the time to give. You can give back too; a little bit of your time is all it takes.
